Red-Shouldered Hawks July 2022
16 July 2022. Today Tony and I had the opportunity to watch two juvenile red-shouldered hawks being released. The bird rescue in the area had about 24 juveniles in their care and over a period of time, they would release some of the hawks when they were ready for a second chance at life.
The first hawk flew off successfully.
The second hawk flew in the opposite direction of the woods and crash landed in the nearby pond. Fortunately, there was no alligator in the pond.
It started to swim to the edge but tired out quickly, so the rescue folks got their nets and pulled the hawk out of the water.
The hawk will go back to the rescue center and will be released at a future date.
